San Diego Travel for Comic Con

San Diego travel for Comic Con this week is likely to draw over 100,000 visitors to the city for one of the biggest pop culture events of the year.
The entrainment industry has ramped up their efforts to market to convention attendees with all sorts of special promotions, including a lot of freebies. One example is a pair of sunglasses from Warner Bros. Which are replicas of the Dark Knight glasses. This functional freebie beats out the promotional eyepatch from Marvel's The Avengers promotion,at least for most people. Free sunglasses are also being handed out like candy that the Covert Affair and Psych booths. When people think of Comic Con, they often think of Star Wars for good reason. And sure enough, free Star Wars gear is being given away, such as a novel face mask of C-3PO on a stick.

Hostels For San Diego Travel

© ZacharyTirrell
Southern California lodging is notoriously expensive, but youth hostels are a great way to cut the high cost of San Diego travel. With $30 and an open mind, you can stay in some prime spots on the Pacific Beach boardwalk in San Diego. And while hostels were once considered only for backpackers, their popularity has been growing with a wider range of travelers in recent years.
For those seeking a more social and budget-friendly alternative to hotel travel, they can be the perfect option. And hostel travelers today expect more than "no bugs and hot water" from their hostel accommodations. Especially in Europe and Australia, hostels are becoming much more upscale, promoting a concept known as budget luxury. This is catching on in the US as well, with hostels like the Banana Bungalow in San Diego offering extras like free barbeques twice a week, sunset parties and live performances by local bands.

Affordable San Diego Travel

San Diego travel mad Hotwire's annual list for top 2011 value oriented destinations. The discount travel site evaluated 75 destinations across the country, and warm-weather areas make up over half of the cities on the list, which is led by Dallas. The value index takes several factors into consideration when ranking destinations, including low prices or discounts on airfares, rental cars and hotels and affordable entertainment.
San Diego, which came in at number 10, and Tampa at the number four spot were both newcomers to the list. As the travel market continues to stabilize, bargains will be harder to come by especially during peak travel times like spring break and summer. But it will still be possible to find affordable destinations with enough research and planning. Tools like the Hotwire value index should be valuable tools in this process for travelers.
